River or Area Water Condition Rating
Colorado River (Glenwood to Rifle)  The COLORADO is still off color and high from spring runoff. Streamers have been doing fairly well. Eggs and Worms will also get their attention! Bigger nymphs will get the fishes attention. Water should start clearing in a couple of weeks.  *** fair
Pleasure Park of the Gunnison  BIG WATER. IT is going to be a few weeks befroe good fishing returns. High water will clean the river so long term effects will be good.
Bar ZX Ranch  The BAR ZX Ranch is open for the season. August and September fishes very well as the fish are very hungry and ready to pounce on your fly. Call us at (970) 244-8658 to schedule your next DREAM FISHING TRIP! This seasons guide rates are: $500 for angler, $375 per person for two anglers, $300 per person for three or more anglers. Lodging and meals are $100 per day.  ****good
White River  The White is off color and high. Spring runoff should be over in a few weeks
PIKE Fishing  WHERE CAN I CATCH A PIKE? Pike can be caught at HARVERY GAP, CRAWFORD, RIFLE GAP, RIO BLANCO Lakes. You can also catch trophy PIKE out of the YAMPA RIVER in Craig. Pike will start spawning in early May and that is the time that they are in the shallows. BUNNY LEECHES work the best. BLACK, CHARTRUESE, RED and WHITE BUNNY LEECHES work well. You have to use steel leader or heavy mono as the Pike have a set of sharp teeth. Call the shop for the best places to go. (970) 244-8658  *** fair
CARP Fishing  If you have never caught a CARP on a FLY, you owe it to yourself to do it. They are considerable harder to catch than Trout. You can also fish for them when the water is too high to fish for Trout. Crawdad patterns work well as well as small bead head nymphs. You can find Carp in any of our local waters. Call the shop for the hot spots to fish and hot flies to use.  *fair
CURRENT FLOWS  If you are looking for the current flows of your favorite river or stream go to this web site www.dwr.state.co.us

Uncompaghre River  Fishing has been good all this year. Make sure that you have plenty of dries and nymphs in your fly box! Smaller Buggers in Olive and Black work well as does bead head nymphs. Hares ears and flaashback pheasant tails also catch fish on the Uncompaghre. Local guides also like orange san juan worms. The DOW just stocked the river last week so there are a lot of 8" to 10" trout to play with.  *** good

Roaring Fork River  Big water on the Fork right now. Should be fishable in two to three weeks.
